This V8 Muscle car costs $30k. But I want it for $20k. It might not be profitable for Ford to sell it for $10k off, but thats not my problem.
I deserve it for $20k, and if that crashes the business model that allows for these things to exist, thats too bad. Ford will just have to accept a loss on everything they sell me if they really care about us enthusiasts.
(No wonder automakers dont really like making things for enthusiasts. No one wants to deal with someone who brings nothing to the table but an entitled attitude.)

Careful...you’re treading the thin line of sounding like a capitalist that believes in the free market regulating itself without the intervention of the government. Those kinds of thoughts get you ostracized these days.

This is my beef with people complaining about the cost of the wrangler. its too expensive!
Oh really? A 4wd body on frame high utility wagon with a high feature v6 with a 6 speed auto or 6 speed manual for $23500 is outrageous is it?
![]() 12/17/2015 at 12:15 |

I know how you could cut $10,000 out ! Just rip out all the interior, because nobody needs seats, or Windows, or radios or anything like that . Everyone is an enthusiast, right ?

toyota tried that once

Oh. Also, I want it to perform better than cars that cost twice as much. Have a nicer interior than cars that cost three times as much. And have the outward visibilty of my Miata.

Never buys a car brand new.
Complains that no car company makes cars that they want
When they do, they don’t buy them (see, Chevy adding a manual to the SS).

Inflation! How does it work! Maybe we should ask The Janet Yellen and The Ben Bernank!

but they should give them away, since nothing changed in the last 30-40 years. just like the 911.

It’s not just the FP. It’s everywhere. It’s the same logic these idiots use to demand $15/hr to work at a fast food restaurant.

Take off $10k for black wheels on bright red car. At least.

Right. NO PLASTIC! I only accept interiors made out of the hide of endangered Alpacas and Lions.

And then get pissed when the price of burgers and other food goes up and then demands a $20 per hour “living wage.”
![]() 12/17/2015 at 12:24 |

If the Federal Minimum Wage was pegged to rise with the rate of inflation and the increase in productivity/hr (measured by GDP) that we have experienced in this country, $15/hr is exactly where the min wage should be right now.

Are you referring to specific stupid comment(s), or the equally stupid AOTD from earlier this week?
And the Mustang GT is a steal at that price. A beautiful, great driving GT/sports coupe with a world class V8 for $30k. We’ve never had it any better than we do now.

It costs more to leave the interior out. Just ask Porsche.
![]() 12/17/2015 at 12:39 |

they hate on the 35-40k ones....you can buy a grand Cherokee for that price and its better in every way. Porsche can double there msrp with options that makes sense, jeep shouldn’t

People forget that minimum wage USED to be a livable wage.
![]() 12/17/2015 at 12:42 |

If that’s the case everyone’s wages should go up accordingly. Not just the minimum.
I don’t believe that a job where the skill level tops out at upselling the #6 combo meal deserves the same pay as an EMT or Facilities maintenance Technician (non-Union).

Ahh, those were the days. Too bad I was never alive to see them.
![]() 12/17/2015 at 12:43 |

They top out just below 40, and given that with that money you get $1200 worth of tire alone...not to mention 2 locking diffs, a specialized transfer case, electronically disconnecting sway bars and stronger axles as well as most of the interior upgrades...I think this its a baseless argument.
![]() 12/17/2015 at 12:44 |

If that’s the case everyone’s wages should go up accordingly. Not just the minimum.
Yep, they absolutely should, since wages have completely stagnated for over 30 years. Take whatever wage you’re making now and add somewhere between 60%-80% on top of that and that’s where your wage should be based on those two factors I stated above.
The fast food workers are simply the only large group of workers (them and Wal-Mart employees) who have had the balls to group up together and make it known how disgusting a practice it is.

I think this attitude plays into why so many people hate on the BRZ.
Enthusiasts: “We need an affordable sports car!”
Toyobaru: “Here’s a FR coupe that handles brilliantly for the price of decently equipped Focus/Civic/3.”
Enthusiast: “WHY DOES IT NOT HAVE 9000 HP!?”

Sounds about right. Apparently I’m the only person that thinks a 430 horsepower, everyday usable sports car for $32-37,000 is an incredibly good price.
![]() 12/17/2015 at 13:45 |

This is correct. Your pay should reflect, your education, and skill level. A job that is a first job for high schoolers shouldn’t be paid the same as professional jobs that require certifications or degrees.
![]() 12/17/2015 at 13:48 |
|
My wages haven’t risen with inflation and I’m a college graduate with professional certifications. The only time I make a jump in pay is improving my skill set and thus my marketability. Flipping burgers is a job that should be done by the uneducated and unskilled while they work on obtaining more skills to which they can make more money.

I think the cost of the GT Mustang is still fair. The SS Camaro is getting a bit high. When you’re approaching the average house hold income for the cost of your car then its not really affordable for a lot of people. Affordable speed is kind of the ethos of a muscle/pony car.
![]() 12/17/2015 at 13:52 |

People want the next car to be bigger, look sleeker and cost the same. So interiors go cheap.
People want better interiors, so the price goes up.
The new Mustang’s interior isn’t even that bad anymore, so a base GT is a steal with MSRP in the low 30s.
In the late 90s, you could get a Camaro Z28 for under $20k. It had a primitive chassis and interior, and about 35% less power. The better comparison was the SS, which wasn’t much cheaper than today’s base Mustang GT.
Now that the Stang has all the sports car goodies, people say it’s heavy. Guess what, a base Porsche Cayman at $54k is a damn good value too.

Of course it’s a problem. I just took it upon myself to improve my situation instead of relying on some dumbass sitting in a government office to decide whether or not helping us gets him elected again.

![]() 12/17/2015 at 16:25 |

well sure, you loose value on any vehicle when you start going down the options road. I still think 35k for a 4 door wrangler rubicon is damn reasonable.
![]() 12/17/2015 at 16:35 |
|
I like the Wrangler, but the price you pay for it, it’s almost as expensive as a pickup without the towing or utility. I’d be more interested in the Wrangler if it had better fuel economy. Back when they had the 4 cylinder option, you could get a nicely equipped one (Sport) with a 4 cylinder that got fuel economy about like a small pickup. It split the price between a small 4x4 & large 4x4 pickup. To me, it wouldn’t matter that the Wrangler couldn’t tow as much or go as fast with the 4 cylinder as the 6 cylinder. They’re not made for high-speed runs. And the towing has never been why you bought a Wrangler. Give me a capable off-roader that can affordable enough to drive where I’m going wheeling without it siphoning gas like it’s a dehydrated camel in the desert.

hey, I would KILL for wrangler like mileage in my daily drive.
![]() 12/17/2015 at 16:48 |

I was thinking more like the 40k+ I see on the streets cleaner than my Golf. But yeah, 35k is still reasonable.
![]() 12/17/2015 at 16:49 |

as long as you don’t go nuts with the rubi, you can get one for between 33-36k (2/4 doors)

Would rather used Raptor though.
